Noses Are Red
NOSES ARE RED
Written and directed by Kate Walder
IN DEVELOPMENT
Inspired by the style of Samuel Beckett, ideas of George Orwell and aesthetic of Charlie Chaplin, Noses are Red is an absurdist pop-up project that explores illiberalism, identity politics and cancel culture. Set at a Meeting of Marginal Members, these concepts are explored through the mischief of the clown and a spirit of the ridiculous. With six different coloured noses, five agenda items and four musical motions, the piece lampoons the outrage and moral righteousness of well, everyone - as a troupe of fools surely should. Noses are Red asks urgent contemporary questions: can we listen anymore? Is nuance dead? Can we interrogate the idea instead of the person proposing it? And as traditional channels of information fall apart, is history doomed to repeat itself?
